Why create a Brand Identity?

We live in a busy world full of different brands and marketing communications with 1000’s of messages hitting each of us everyday. So, how do you get your brand noticed?

A clearly defined brand can certainly help, along with simple messaging, that not only talks to your audience in the right way but actually means something to them.

A brand can be seen in a number of different ways, but it’s essentially your business from top to bottom. It’s what you stand for and what you promise people.

You can shape it’s core by looking closely at the following areas before you even think about creating a logo or considering colours!!

Why do you exist above and beyond making a profit?

Brand Vision
What can you become?

Brand Mission
How are you going to get there?

Brand Values
What you believe in and what you stand for?

Spending time on the above is a worthwhile exercise and will help in making future decisions for your business. You can use the above to help with:

  • Creating your Brand Identity (Logo, Colours, Typography, Tone of Voice, Images etc)
  • Shaping how you communicate
  • Deciding where you communicate
  • Introducing a new product OR service
  • Recruiting people
  • Reviewing and rewarding people
  • How quickly you should pick up the phone.

The last one is an extreme example obviously, but it should be considered based on what you’ve agreed you stand for.

If you believe you are ‘Responsive’ and create a Brand Value to help prove it, then how quickly you do something reflects this, be it picking up an inbound phone call or responding to an email.
