Meet Will, our new Digital Design Lead

Do you have any hobbies?

I’m a big fan of the outdoors like a lot of the team here at Dawn, and really enjoy hiking. I’m also into drone photography, music, cars, trainers and pretentious beers… Travelling is my biggest hobby, if you can call it a hobby. I usually spend one month of the year at Lake Garda, Italy, and try to visit as often as possible.

What are your greatest accomplishments so far?

In my career, I’d say I’m most proud of creating the BBC knockout tournament tables for the Qatar World Cup in 2022. It was used by over 5 million people in one month, so that was pretty cool. Also, a logo I designed for JCT600, the sponsors of Bradford City, was on the Bradford City kits, so seeing my designs on FIFA was nice, too.

In my personal life, I’m proud of how many places I’ve travelled and experiences I’ve had along the way.

Why did you want to join the team at Dawn?

I’ve always had a focus on being a design practitioner and working hands on with a variety of client work is ultimately what I enjoy the most. Dawn gave me the opportunity to maintain involvement with a range of digital design work whilst broadening my skillset and to learn more about branding and motion.

Two truths and a lie… go.

2. I was a sponsored skateboarder in my teens

Any major inspirations in the industry?

My favourite studio is called Ouiwill. It’s a French agency, and they produce some really great work. If I was to start my own agency, I would have loved that name, so pretty gutted it’s taken!

Others I’m inspired by are ustwo, Huge Inc and Revolve Studio. If we’re talking individual designers, it would have to be Andrew Baygulov.

I was not a sponsored skateboarder in my teens, so that was the lie. Although, that was my dream growing up!
